Who: Emmett and Rosalie.
What: Emmett comforts Rosalie after she talks to Alice.
Where: Rosalie and Emmett's room.
When: July 7th.
Status: Incomplete.

Emmett was hunting alone.  He sometimes enjoyed a bit of solitude -- not for long periods of time, of course, but sometimes he just needed to be by himself.  It was relaxing, but he'd been away for a while and he needed to get back home.

A sprint to the garage door from the surrounding forest, and he was there in a second.  He furrowed his brow; the garage was strangely, eerily empty.  Emmett had thought Rosalie might be there, but it was more than just that.  It felt to him as though everyone in the house were strictly avoiding the garage.

This made no sense, but he shrugged it off.  He wasn't the mind-reader, the empath, or the fortune-teller, so what did he know?

Emmett walked into the house through the connecting door.  It had a huge dent in the middle of it, as though someone had kicked it shut.

Ah.  So there had been a fight.

Emmett made his way upstairs, noticing no one on his way.  At the door to his and Rosalie's room, he heard his wife breathing very deeply.

He winced.  He'd been afraid of that.

He opened the door slowly, carefully.  Stepping inside and closing it behind him, he said, concerned: "Rosalie?  What's wrong?"

One must be very gentle with an angry Rosalie.  He'd learned this the hard way.

[ooc: The Bella thread is next, don't worry!  I had to this one first, timewise.]

Damn that Edward! Rosalie thought. He's got his head so far up the clouds, that he can't even see the glaringly obvious!!

Rosalie was still fuming after her fight with her older brother. He was so impossible! And of course, in the end she had been made out to be the bad guy.

Hearing the door click shut, and the comforting voice of her husband, a million feelings coursed through her. She had two options. She could throw herself into his arms and tell him how mean Edward had been, or she could stew and throw things.

It was tempting, but she chose the former.

"Emmett!" she flung herself around his waist. "Oh, Emmett, love! Edward is an idiot!" she growled in frustration.

Emmett jumped at Rosalie's rather enthusiastic response. He'd been expecting something a little more frightening.

He wrapped his arms around her body. "What did he do this time, Rose?" he asked, concerned. "Do I have to get after him?"

He had an idea of what had happened. Emmett guessed the two hard-headed vampires had gotten into an argument over (who else?) Bella. If only they'd understand each other's points of view, everything would be so much simpler.

Oh well. Time for some major comforting.

He led his wife back over to the bed, sitting down with her in his arms. "Now, tell me everything."

Rosalie rested her head against Emmett's broad chest. "I just don't think that Edward and Bella have really gone through their options," she muttered. "Whether they like it or not, in the long run; it does affect all of us. And yet everytime I bring it up, I just get told to butt out!"

"So I was in the garage, blowing off some steam and our dear brother came in looking for a fight. Or something. He just can't handle being drama free," she huffed.

She crossed her arms angrily. "Why won't they just accept the point that perhaps I have a point?"

Emmett took a deep breath.

"Well, yeah, Rose. You have a point. Bella is pretty young to have to make these sort of life-altering decisions.

"But don't you remember Edward?" he asked softly. "He'd always been a depressed shadow, not-quite-there most of the time. And then Bella skips along and he's suddenly happy, really happy, like he's never been. Don't you want that for him?"

He smiled. "Besides, it'll be hilarious to see Jasper's face when I win the bet."

Rosalie didn't say anything for a moment, and then she stood up from the bed and walked to the other side of the room. After taking a deep breath, she whirled around.

"Why does no one see what I'm trying to say, Emmett?" She exclaimed, frustrated. "Edward's happiness? Of course I want him to be happy! But what if after the change, those things change? His feelings for Bella, her's for him? I'm not going to ignore the elephant in the room any longer!" She paused. "Or should I say werewolf?"

She snorted. "If something like that can happen, if she can so willingly love another, who's to say her feelings won't change? She is after all only," she swallowed, "human. For now, at least. She can't control how she feels."

She glanced down. "Why does everyone only ever see the good when it comes to that girl? To she and Edward's relationship? And I'm smart enough to see and understand that yes, it has brought a great deal of good to this family, and to Edward. But in the end...it's also brought a great deal of bad."

Emmett stared at Rosalie. Apparently, it was worse than he'd thought. But to be honest, he actually understood her reasons.

"Well," he said hesitantly, "I guess I understand what you're saying. I don't want anyone to be hurt -- not you, not Edward, not Bella.

"And if I've got the story straight," he continued, "didn't she punch him in the face for trying to kiss her? It doesn't sound like the same sort of relationship to me."

Emmett stood up, walking over to where Rosalie stood by the window.

"Bella hasn't brought anything bad to our family yet," he said softly. "Don't worry about things that haven't happened.

"Besides, it was Edward that left her. And if that's how the family reacts when those two are pulled apart...well, wouldn't you say it's meant to be?"

Rosalie paused. People didn't give Emmett enough credit; he made good points and basically shot down all of her reasoning.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and sighed. "I'm being stubborn, I know. I just...I want to make sure they make the right decision. For themselves, for everyone."

Emmett rested his chin on top of her head. "I know," he said softly. "So do I."

He paused, thinking.

"Do you think it would help if I went to talk to Bella, love?" he asked. "I think she's feeling a little awkward right now."

Emmett grinned. "After all, not every girl gets attention from the beautiful supermodel."

Rosalie nodded, tracing patterns against Emmett's chest with her finger.

"That's probably a good idea," she said softly. "Maybe you can explain to her that I'm not out to get her. Not anymore, at least. " she added hastily.

She grinned at his last comment. "I love you, Emmett. Always have, always will."
